It doesn't use NS -through- Berea. When it runs there, it uses CSX west of Berea and NS east of Berea to get to the NS branch that goes via The Knob to the west side of the Cuyahoga River valley.

How often they make that trip I don't exactly know, but it I don't think it's very frequent - certainly nothing you can go there on a random day and expect to see.

toldeopatch is correct. They go from CSX, hop over to NS at Berea, then cut through Rockport Yard to get to the steel mill in Cleveland via the Cloggsvile line.

As for how often, it's on an as needed basis. From what I've heard and seen personally, they tend to run at night, but it's not unheard of to see them during the day.

I don't know about the westbound runs, but going eastbound they usually wait for clearance onto NS around where the bridge goes over the road where depot street ends on the west side.

Back in mid-March, I got wind of their train coming off CSX at Wellington, Ohio on a Sunday morning. They were going to take their empty hoppers to the yard in Hartland, then taxi to Bellevue to get on a train that had come east from Toledo, run that train to Hartland, and double the whole thing together. Had I not also heard there was a Wheeling train coming onto CSX at Greenwich to go to Willard, and opted to photograph that one instead, I might have seen how that all played out.

The connecting track at Wellington is interesting in that it loops through the county fairgrounds. I'd love to photograph that move with a drone sometime. But the Cleveland trains are the only time it gets used, to my knowledge.

Every now and then I see the west bounds between Rockport and Berea early in morning (0500-0630 ish).

When I worked on the
Penn Central in the 60's
they called the area by
Fulton Rd. "Cloggville"
not sure how the named
got changed to "Cloggsville"
used by NS today?
