As more modern motive power takes the prioritiy trains, the "2nd Generation" power many of us grew up with seems to be relegated to local, yard and work train service. Such was the case today here on the Toledo Subdivision.

CSX SD40-2's 8064 and 8424 were once at home on manifests and coal drags, now they earn their keep on the company dime, powering W030 northward toward Toledo.

Photo 1: After a crew change at Cairo, Ohio, 8064 smokes it up as it passes the B&O color position light signals at North Cairo.

Photo 2 and 3: We get ahead of the W030 and photograph him again at South Deshler and again at the cantilever signal in Deshler.
