Sayonara MG Tower
Author: reel_smooth

Been hearing rumblings of late about this and was apparently all over social media. For those like me that don't do social media, here's the story from the Altoona Mirror's webpage. Looks like a request for bids is out for MG Tower's [Pittsburgh line, about MP244 - just west of the Horseshoe Curve] demolition & removal.

Why bid it out, I thought railroads did that type of demo themselves? A waste of money in my opinion.

Could be some asbestos involved. The RR wants to distance themselves from the liability? That is not as easy to hide as it used to be.

If it was wooden instead of brick they could just have a "lightning strike" next thunderstorm and viola, problem solved.
