CSX Auto-rack consist
Author: mustrev

I live one block from a CSX line coming out of Savannah,GA.  I have never seen auto-racks on the track until today when there was a entire consist of them. Does anyone know if this is a regular train or is it something new?

If autoracks are not part of your regular traffic mix, there's a better-than-even chance that these were cars going into storage somewhere.

A lot of autoracks are being repositioned from storage to auto loading facilities right now.  CSX operated an X210 today from Savannah to Talladega, AL.  This is likely what you saw.

Autoracks are coming out of storage all over the system and will be seen in places they normally aren't over the next several weeks.  That's the best I can tell you.  That X210 is all I saw that day that with a quick scan.
