23M with NS 4000 Thursday 7/2
Author: sscannella

On my way back to Harrisburg from Altoona Thursday, I made a stop at Matawanna, PA (roughly MP 177 on the NS Pittsburgh main) to intercept the NS 23M which featured the AC conversion unit 4000 on the point, with a little taste of what I'll call Conrail blue on the nose....

I personally like the Norfolk Southern Blue and Gray much more then that plain old black scheme.  I wish all their locomotives were painted this way.

It almost kills me to say I miss "Big Blue". CR took away all the great northeastern paint schemes of the former railroads but yes, account of that, we still have railroads in the northeast. Even if they are boring black NS and drab CSX dark blue.
When I moved into my home I could see CR blue, CSX "Bright Future" and D&H  blue and gray as well as the CP red when they grabbed D&H. Now it is blah NS black.
Yawn.
