I'm curious about the Kankakee, Beaverville & Southern's (ex Big Four) connection with CN/IC in Kankakee, IL  Maybe I'm just not around at the right times but judging from the rails it doesn't seem like it gets used much.  If that is in fact the case then my question is why is this not an important interchange point. Is there some routing that makes this connection superfluous?

It looks like they interchange with CSX & NS in Danville, IL and NS in Lafayette, IN the CN interchange may be as needed. I hope this helps. Someone that lives near or knows more info on the KBS.
