Railfan Trip to Manville and Bound Brook on 7/25/20
Author: Passfanatic

I took a trip to Manville and Bound Brook on 7/25/20. I took NJT Train # 5523 from Newark Penn Station to Bridgewater first. Here are some trains at Bridgewater Station.

-NJT Train # 5523 at Bridgewater Station with a Comet Set

-NJT Train # 5522 pausing at Bridgewater Station

-ALP45DP shoving its multilevel set making up Train # 5522 out of Bridgewater Station. In the background is the I-287 overpass.

I head over to Manville in an Uber now

-Just as I was about to set up, I was greeted by an eastbound NS Freight in Manville just before 3:00

-About 10 minutes later after I got my first freight of my trip, a second one passes heading eastbound as well about to cross N. 13th Street

-This is the power for the second freight of the day in Manville that I saw

Super place to see and record action.

Thanks guys! It was my very first time at Manville and was pretty pleased there. One of these days, I will try to go in the morning as there are few trees on the south side of the tracks. It's good in the afternoon with the photo angles. I have been to Bound Brook too many times. Let the pictures continue.

Some more NJT trains arriving and departing Bound Brook

Bound Brook used to see a morning freight train rush hour, then hit or miss until late afternoon.

Don't know if it's still that way.

The rental storage unit Place right in the fork of the Lehigh Line and the Port Reading Line always looked like a nice place to set up a chair on the roof...

I think the Lehigh Line is hit or miss in general. From what other railfans have told me, you probably have to show up to a point of interest at 5 am and that's way too early for me. I think Conrail is often good with not running too many freights on the stretch of the Lehigh Line that overlaps with NJT during the rush hour as NJT needs to run many trains during rush hour.
