Here is the latest update on Hurricane Sally. Since writing it, the central pressure has dropped to 995mb which confirms the strengthening trend observable on weather satellite images.

Extreme flooding is likely in the area along with a major storm surge. There will be significant flooding over much of the rest of Mississippi and, perhaps, western Alabama.

the combination of slow soil subsidence, and rising sea levels has already eroded a lot of Louisiana coast line

Posted on Amtrak's website as of Monday 14th at 1900 Eastern:

Amtrak has adjusted its schedule and service on the following trains due to inclement weather from Hurricane Sally, with no alternate transportation.
   City of New Orleans Train 58 is canceled on Tuesday, Sept. 15
   Crescent Train 19 will terminate in Atlanta from Monday, Sept. 14 through Wednesday, Sept. 16
   Crescent Train 20 will originate in Atlanta from Monday, Sept. 14 through Wednesday, Sept. 16
   Sunset Limited Train 2 will terminate in San Antonio on Tuesday, Sept. 15
   Sunset Limited Train 1 will originate in San Antonio on Tuesday, Sept. 15
