One of the units I was hoping to at least see while on our Scranton adventure was the DL 2409 which recently had some "Wabash" lettering applied. Her history has been posted on here before, sufficient to say the story of this unit is interesting and it's great she survives and even runs. It's the lone remaining C424 "B" unit the Wabash had. First two photos at Scranton, Pa 10-08-2020 and then on 10-10-2020 in front of Bridge 60. Is it possible this unit (as N&W 3905) visited Scranton in the past as run through power on the EL ?

Or maybe as run through power on the D&H. I saw (I believe) this unit leading a westbound D&H piggy back train in Hornell in 1977. Pictures are posted on Train orders of that day.

Help me out here please on the reference to Wabash "B" unit. I'm not familiar with how that applies to her history.

The old NdeM of Mexico ordered 10 C424s. Alco bulit them but when it came time to ship, the NdeM didn't want them and Alco made Wabash a deal on them. For some reason, I am guessing all of the instruments were in Spanish and air gauges in metric the Wabash designated that they could not operate in the lead and thus became "B" units. I believe that after the N&W took control of the Wabash, they were set up to operate in the lead.

The order was for 30 but the Wabash took delivery of the first 7. The issue was financing. Alco replaced these 7 with order number 3380. NdeM would go on to own a large fleet (45) of C424's.

The materials were on order to change the cabs to allow them to lead. Before they could be updated, one (B902) was totaled and then the merger with the N&W occurred. They all were capable of leading on the N&W.
