Eastern Railroad Discussion > Friday Evening - D&H LandDate: 10/16/20 15:46 Friday Evening - D&H Land Author: train1275 October 16, 2020
60 years ago today the DL&W and Erie had their last day of independent operation before EL. The 30T passes the former D&H Bainbridge, NY depot on a rather wet, cloudy & chill fall day. Power is NS 1109 and 1151. Date: 10/16/20 15:56 Re: Friday Evening - D&H Land Author: MdRailfan Nice photo! and great scenery

It was a do or die situation for all rails east of Chicago and north of the Mason-Dixon Line. I hated Conrail for sucking up all the railroads I knew but when Conrail was split by NS and CSX I hated NS and CSX. As I've aged the one hard lesson I've learned is the only constant is change. Embrace change or it will eat you alive! Great photo of what is watered hugely down and then split remnants Erie and Lackawanna railroads, not to mention D&H and Dereco! Gonut |
