"Cass Cacophony" ..... aka: Very Loud Train !
Author: cinder

My wife and I captured the Cass Scenic Railroad's noon train to Bald Knob, WV yesterday.  We staked out a position at the Back Mtn. Rd. crossing which offered a good sun angle, but required a "going away" perspective.  The cacophony of smoke, steam and the artistic whistle manipulation was music to our ears.  Our hearing returned to normal about an hour later.

I use a nifty app on my phone to plan the sun angle.  WARNING:  Cass, WV has no cell signal.

They always kept the cars above the locomotive, unless it was a special event train. Wonder why this is reverse of the time honored practice?

Seems like the whistle was a bit late starting for the crossing?
