CSX AC4400W to CM44AC rebuild program
Author: brfriedm

This past weekend, I shot 3 brand new CSX CM44AC rebuilds. I saw 2 others last weekend. So obviously its CSX's turn in the program as I believe UP, BNSF, CP and NS have orders into the program also. Does any one know the details of this CSX release?  How many units in this CSX release and when do they expect this batch to be released in full?  I have read that CSX would like to do all the AC4400W's over time and that would be a rather large order with Wabtec GE. I am guessing these were done In Erie. These units appeared to be on their 1st or 2nd run and they came out of Cumberland on Q372. Guessing they went from Erie to Cumberland but I had read the rebuilds were going to Cincinnati for setup prior to system release. I believe Cumberland has been reactivated as a GE service facility after the Selkirk shops reduction so maybe they are being setup in Cumberland?  Please comment if you are in the know please.

Here are some shots. Thanks Bruce

On this Q372, the 7227 was the leader and the 7224 was the slave DPU unit with a 2nd AC4400W. Obviously these units add to CSX's fleet more DPU capability which is very common today. They sure look nice in new paint.

Nice photos, I should have read this post before posting a similar question here https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?2,5127355
. Just curious - do you have any more info on the Selkirk reduction you mentioned? Are they no longer a GE MSA shop?

7224 is the former 172.   One of only two units numbered below 201 that will go into the 7200s instead of hte 7000 series/    169 is the other.
