Been wanting to get back along Dover & Delaware River RR's Washington Secondary to photograph their operation and this Thursday morning was just the day to do that. This first image  is of D&DR's yard office located off of Thomas Road in Port Murray, NJ. The workday for D&DR's RP1 started out by pulling some covered hoppers from Borealis Compounds facility in Port Murray. Once that was completed they were off to Phillipsburg. In the second image, which was taken on Blau Road, RP-1 started its trip to P'burg led by D&DR 5303. It is a GP38-2 whose heritage is ex-PC and CR 8118. RP-1 passes by Port Murray's depot around 11 AM with D&DR 5304 bringing up the rear. It is another GP38-2 and is ex-PC and CR 8119.

IDK who put in that new cantiever highway flasher.  NS i guess...  must have been an accident there of some sort for them to put that in.....
most of the line , IIRC, has 1950's vintage flashers.    DDR (thnk goodness) changed some, if not all the highy flasher track circuits to 500 ft or so.  Many of them were at 1200-1500' , again from the 1950's for 40-60 mph running.  It would literally be 2 minutes from when the flashers started, till the train got to the crossing.

All great shots, Pattenburg.  Once upon a time there were some cabooses at Port Murray for restoration.  Any of them still there?

That Erie caboose is still there but looking a little weathered.
