"Assault on the Blue Ridge".....NS Christiansburg District

Three days of predicted sunny skies beckoned me on a brief sojourn ro the east slope of the Blue Ridge near Roanoke, VA.  Here we find the Norfolk Southern (ex N&W) running a busy double track main up a 1.3% grade to cross the summit at Christiansburg, VA.  Here are some of the highlights.

Fun video to watch. I'm fascinated by how many intermodal trains are on this corridor. How much intermodal traffic did predecessor N&W operate?
