It’s neat seeing two SD45’s on a train!

And rails with bolts in them! Always enjoy seeing ex-Western Maryland stuff. In this case remote PRR stuff as well.

45 carbody only, Dan. They're actually classed as SD40-2s.

Thank you once again BigSavage for your outstanding coverage of the Maryland Midland over the former Western Maryland Railway Line.  I always enjoyed all the trips that I made on the Western Maryland and later days on the Maryland Midland before they stopped operating passenger trains of any kind.  Happy New Year.

Great pictures.  I was literally a day late- dollar short on riding the Maryland Midland.  Signed up to ride and they closed up.

How far back did stone trains run on WM?  Did they have them in steam days?

Little to no stone traffic during PRR/PC/MA&PA operation.
MMID developed the traffic when the quarry wanted to ship stone to Annapolis Jct.,MD. Via MMID/CSX.
CSX refused to cooperate, so Barrick set up their unloading/transfer facility at Cedarhurst.
Fortunately the x-WMRY trackage from Westminster-Emory Grove had been repared and reactivated in 1989, after 15 years of closure due to storm damage.
This is actually the second biggest customer on MMID.
This pic was taken by me in 1996, not long after the stone trains started.
Keymar viaduct over Little Pipe Creek, x-PRR.

Great series!  I just love that MMID repurposed the original WM signals at Keymar into switch indicator signals.  Way cool!!

Odd seeing the block signal display green and yellow.
