MMID stone train WBST blasts north out of the Barrick Quarry at Woodsboro, MD. enroute to Cedarhurst, MD. Sign at left is a holdover from MMID's pre Genesee & Wyoming ownership. First 7 miles of trip is on x-PRR Hanover branch. Date: 01/02/21 04:57 Re: Last 2020 pics on Maryland Midland Author: bigsavage WBST comes off connection track at Keymar, MD. onto MMID's x-WMRY main line, and approaches Middleburg, MD.

Dan Posted from iPhone Date: 01/02/21 08:52 Re: Last 2020 pics on Maryland Midland Author: ClubCar Thank you once again BigSavage for your outstanding coverage of the Maryland Midland over the former Western Maryland Railway Line. I always enjoyed all the trips that I made on the Western Maryland and later days on the Maryland Midland before they stopped operating passenger trains of any kind. Happy New Year.

How far back did stone trains run on WM? Did they have them in steam days? Date: 01/02/21 11:24 Re: Last 2020 pics on Maryland Midland Author: bigsavage Tominde Wrote:

Little to no stone traffic during PRR/PC/MA&PA operation. MMID developed the traffic when the quarry wanted to ship stone to Annapolis Jct.,MD. Via MMID/CSX. CSX refused to cooperate, so Barrick set up their unloading/transfer facility at Cedarhurst. Fortunately the x-WMRY trackage from Westminster-Emory Grove had been repared and reactivated in 1989, after 15 years of closure due to storm damage. This is actually the second biggest customer on MMID. This pic was taken by me in 1996, not long after the stone trains started. Keymar viaduct over Little Pipe Creek, x-PRR.
