Great to see this built in Schenectady. Not Mitsubishi.

Yes, why would I lie about it? I’m guessing the roundabout route was to avoid having a 25 MPH train on busy routes like the Fitzgerald Sub or coming down the A line via DC.

That is the prefered high-wide route - seems most of not all larger high wides between North East and South East run via Avon, Terre Haute, Nashville, Birmingham.  Either traffic reasons as speculated or clearance issues.

yep it's all about clearances....the power bureau has powerful software that you can put loading gauge specifications in and it automagically generates a route with adequate clearance...though when you have done it enough, you just know what works

Lot better than the other route that GE uses.  Schenectady to  Port of Albany and onto a barge or ship on the Hudson River.  Only the Russian ship had a problem as the ship rolled over and killed some sailers a while ago.

By the way, this is not a Schnabel  car which attaches to both ends of the unit you are shipping as part of the car.  This car just has a heavy duty platform that can be shifted side ways if necessary.  Schnabel car can carry a larger load..

Yes I wish they would start selling a whole lot of these so the value of their stock would go back up

It is absolutely a Schnabel car.  The deck is removable (the flat car is used to haul the deck when not in use) and the car can extend.
