Eastern Railroad Discussion > Plow Extra NYSW Utica NY BranchDate: 02/19/21 17:57 Plow Extra NYSW Utica NY Branch Author: ut-1 New York, Susquehanna & Western ran a plow extra this morning on its Utica NY line from the Utica yard 23 miles south to Sangerfield and return.
Between Utica-Sangerfield lies Paris Hill and its 1.8% grade, the ruling grade on predecessor road Delaware, Lackawanna & Western. The plow train is first seen in this video on Utica's Schuyler Street. Following scenes: Utica along NY State Routes 5/8/12, South Utica, Chadwicks, Clayville, Cassville, Paris Station (at Paris Hill's summit, or nearly so) and, lastly, in Waterville, a few miles north of Sangerfield. Yup, they didn't even have enough snow to deploy the side wings until ~ 2:50 TBH I believe callum was joking. There is quite a history here of folks asking where the rotaries are out west.
