NS 4001 (DC to AC conversion) leads 294 through Lyons, PA
Author: dschlegel

Shortly after sunset tonight I caught 294 led by NS 4001 rolling east on Main 2 through Lyons, PA on the NS Reading Line.

Of note, this is the first time I have seen DPU used on an NS intermodal. I'm sure it has happened before, but it's a first for me.

It's so nice to still have daylight near 6pm here in eastern PA, but man is it still chilly!

Enjoy and stay warm everyone!

Hi Dan, Great video really like the location of your video and the snow really makes for a very cold scene.

The DPU was about 85 wells back, on a 140 or so wells long train,Good keeping up the brake pressure

Thanks guys!

The location is on the north side of the tracks near the Kemp street crossing in Lyons, PA.

The train is just as dead if the DPU quits as if the head end quits, the only difference is whether the head end or the whole train from ahead of the middle sets up first.  The rules don't allow continuing with a dead single unit DPU.
