Conrail Quality
Author: pedrop

Taking a look at my old pictures, I found some of the former CONRAIL B36-7 that were rebuilt to narrow gauge BB36-7 here in Brazil by Vale mining. They still in use in VLI railroad but they don't wear the old CONRAIL livery anymore.
Picture from January 8th, 2004.

744 is former Conrail 5052. It was scrapped this year in Uberaba, MG.

Thanks for the pictures.  It looks like the rebuilding included a smaller fuel tank, perhaps to accommodate the additional sets of trucks.

Man, those were quite the kit-bash !  Quite a departure from hauling TV trains.

Having lived next to a Conrail mainline and seeing these when newer, they sure look odd with 4 trucks under them!
Than you for a most interesting post.

I just came across this shot of CR 5052 leading Mail 9 on the Belt Line at West Shore in Reading,PA. that I took on 12/4/88.  At the time, who would have thought it would become a narrow gauger working down in Brazil ?
