Sad to see how badly they let most of these locomotives deteriorate. Ok ... so don't touch up the paint because that takes time and they're needed for service, but I have to believe they'd look alot better today if they got washed once in a while. Some have faired better than others but after 10 years, it may be time to paint them black and put them out of their misery. Those responsible for the original project have long since departed the scene and the current regeme doesn't appear to be too concerned with corporate image as they are totally fixated on shareholders and the bottom line. Glad I got the pictures that I did.

NS Can't touch up the best PR and advertisement they have. but spare no expense on the Taj Mahal headquarters building of Atlanta

This looks to be in even worse shape than the last time I photographed it, which was only about 3 months or so back.
I couldn't agree more, it's time to put these things out of their misery, paint em black and call it done.  It was wonderful
while it lasted, and maybe someday, whn the people in chage have a bit of pride in their company, we'll get to do it
again.  Just not with this group, that's for certain.

Neat!

I had a Bachman Spectrum Reading GP30 (5513) when I was a teenager that peeled its paint just like this. For once the model was like the real thing!

Nice one, always thought when new and clean that this scheme was the best one of all the heritage units...

Couldn't agree more, Gary!  I still enjoy seeing these units, but have no ambition to photograph them anymore.  Definitely a far cry from 2013!
