With catenary overhead it's not Altoona !!  Double track could be the Trenton Cutoff ,the A&S or the Columbia branch. ---  Ken

Ken's a good detective.  At first I wondered how he knew it was double track and then - duh !!

This is the Vinegar Ferry Road underpass just west of Marietta, PA on the A&S Low Grade.

I like that picture and really miss the caboose.  I totally forgot about those series of PC cabooses had the round windows on the sides and ends.  They are N5C and they were ex PRR?  Most made in 1942 I think.

Isn't that on the Port Road - not the A&S?

I remember the first time I saw one in the late 1960s. We were coming back from visiting relatives in Ohio and stopped at a grade crossing near Butler, Indiana somewhere out in the country. It was at night, and the lighted caboose at the end of the train with the "porthole" windows made an impression on this young railfan. Does anyone know why the Pennsy went with the round windows? I suppose other than the boxcars converted to cabooses, this class was the only class that had them.
