CSX Homestead Florida Division (Krome Ave)

Hello, I thought this division was abandoned near Homestead Florida. The crossing at Krome Ave had the gates removed a few years ago and the growth on either side of the crossing is over 10 feet high right between the tracks. Does anyone know why new gates with lights on them along with new painted signs were put there if the tracks were abandoned. Seems lke a big waste of money.

Was this line included when CSX sold its lines in South Florida to the South Florida Transportation agency?
