20+ Years on TO?
Author: JUTower

Good morning - random thought of the day.  I've been a TO member since the late 1990s when I was just a kid in college... how many of you have been hanging around that whole time?  I can think of a few members who've come and gone, and more than a few who've left this world behind (Rob Palmer, Ed Durnwald, Ed Kapriske, to name a few).
Take care,
-Alex

I joined TO after meeting Dave Burton at a train show in Tehachapi.  I was a member of the Tehachapi Loop RR Club.  Back then TO was operated out of Dave's basement on a home computer.  Early 90's?

I signed on in 2000 or 2001, can't remember now.  I do know that first it was free, and then I got conned into a "one time fee", which then became a yearly fee.  STILL kind of pissed about that one.

I've been here since the first itteration, prior to it being sold to Yahoo, through that period, & still here.
Where's the seniority roster?

I was originally a member of East Penn Rail News (or something like that) which got folded into TO around 2000 I think? In any case been around here for 20 years at least. I owe Alex Lang credit for bringing me on.

I’ve met many great people through TO, and yes some have passed in and I miss them.

Interesting thread for sure!

Got my first PC in '98 and joined soon thereafter. Had lots of great (and some not-so-great) discussion through the years, and seen lots of great (and some not-so-great) photography as well...

I believe I joined when the Tehachapi webcam was introduced. I believe that was in 1998. I remember the old PC that I used in the first apartment that my wife and I got after getting married that year.
I've had more fun on Trainorders than I had in that marriage- lol. No worries, I'm on round II, and it has gone much better.

I joined in the late '90's and left when TO became a pay site.  I rejoined 4 years ago.

I first joined in the late 2000 ('07-'09), with the username "SandPatch" and I changed to "Cumberland" for some unknown reason I don't remember.

I am pretty sure I've been around right at the 20 year mark myself on TO.
