34 Year Old B39-8s Still Working On The Nashville and Eastern

On May 9th I headed down towards Lebanon, TN to catch the eastbound run of NE01. However the morning chase would not happen as I hit one of the many bad potholes on I65 in Kentucky and was delayed by 5 hours by a flat tire.  I didn't let that stop me as the train was supposed to have a trio of B39-8s with the RJC painted one leading back west from Gordonsville. After searching for other non existent moves around Nashville I headed back to Gordsonville after hearing on the radio that someone was ready to depart. It was the NE01 with B39-8s #8572, #8585 and #8531. The NE01 is the dedicated stone train. It was a sight to see 3, 34 year old B39-8s hauling a loaded rock train. I followed them from Donaldsville to Lebanon. The 8585 was spitting out smoke and flames which made for a sight. Enjoy!

Nice pix. 

I guess "old " is a relative term.   There are still a number of 60+ year old geeps on shortlines, and even more stuff around from the late 60s/70s.
