NS Dayton District Derailment
Author: pt199

A Norfolk Southern train that derailed late Thursday afternoon near Springfield, Ohio, did not result in any injuries.
NS said 20 cars derailed in the incident southwest of Springfield on the Dayton District, which connects Cincinnati and Columbus and was once part of the New York Central.
Among the derailed cars were several auto racks. Some derailed cars landed in the Mad River.
The derailment was reported about 5:30 p.m.  by csanders429

This was a pretty dramatic scene and was wondering if I'd see any pics posted here.  No Hazmats, but a lot of loaded racks including a couple partially in the river.  They tore up quite a distance of rail, but the line was re-opened in about 48 hours.  The scene appeared to be inaccessible which limited the ability to get photos, but some did get out.
