Help a Texan, in Natchez Miss.
Author: WrongWayMurphy

I'll be in Natchez this coming weekend, are there any rail related "must see" things,
Or good places to spot a train?  We will be staying at one of the hotels downtown
overlooking the River.

Nearest action is Brookhaven, CN on former IC, or Vicksburg on KCS, former IC. Lots of civil war history in both towns. Natchez does have the Natchez Railway, a former IC branch from Brookhaven, but I personally have never seen them move although on my last visit the power was not there. Also, Natchez marks the beginning of the Natchez Trace Parkway that runs a few hundred miles northeast to near Nashville.

Dock facility on river generated a local freight that made an impressive sight and sound as it climbs up from edge of river.
I am not sure how often it runs.
