I'm in media myself, and I correct that whenever I hear it and try to spread the word that "tank car" is the correct terminology. I was pleased about a year ago when one of our local Seattle radio stations made the all-to-common mistake of saying the conductor was driving a train involved in an incident and actually got calls from listeners. The station quickly corrected itself.
