Pan Am OCS FF9s on CSX M409-21
Author: Pattenburg

Any information regarding this train's location would be appreciated as I would hope to get a photo of it passing by Belle Mead's ex-Reading Depot for my continuation of documenting that depot's history. Thanks for any updates.

Any luck capturing the PAR FP9s on M409?

Per the Ashland cam train log, Two M409 trains passed the Ashland VA live cam today - one around 0215 and one around 1130. Neither of these alleged M409 trains had the PAR units. I’m wondering if they got dropped somewhere between Selkirk and Ashland?

BTW, CSX M427 that ran last night to Selkirk had Pan Am’s 4 OCS cars on the tail end. It will be interesting to see where they’re heading.

Saw elsewhere that they DID NOT make the M409-21.  All indications are they are still in Selkirk.  Passenger car PAR 1027 went south on M409-15 several days ago.  Upon arrival in Waycross, it got sent back north on M400-20 and is currently in Rocky Mount.   Other passenger cars do not show moving even though they were reported on M427 last night

Interesting development! Here are 2 screen grabs of the 4 PAR OCS cars heading west on the tail of M427 passing the Westfield live cam at midnight 6/22/22. Maybe the FP9s and OCS cars will be reunited once again to continue their trek.

BTW what is Pan Am passenger car 1027? Springfield Terminal 102 is the ex-Wabash dome car "Bluebird" but I'm not familiar with a 1027. Thanks.

To answer your question about capturing the FP9s, that answer is no. There were no reports I had access to until after the fact they went through my area.

The 4 Pan Am passenger cars headed south on the CSX riverline on the M409 at 14:59 by CP10 they can be seen on the bigtrains camera and are the last 4 of 5 cars of the train , they had an empty flat car at the end.  The FP9's were not on the train.

A post on The formerly named Pan Am Railfans Facebook page says the FP9s and 4 OCS cars had not yet departed Selkirk on M409 as of mid day Thursday June 22. I know I had not seen them pass the Ashland VA rail cam on any M409 as of 0800 Thursday.

At 1400 Thursday 6/23/22, all four Pan Am OCS cars passed the Ashland VA live cam on the tail of Waycross-bound M409. The Pan Am OCS FP9s are rumored to still be in Selkirk.
