Eastern Railroad Discussion > A Dirty Girl Heads WestDate: 06/26/22 18:12 A Dirty Girl Heads West Author: jbohdan2 Norfolk Southern #1071 the CNJ Heritage unit traversed the Lake Division late this afternoon as it made the run from the east coast to Chicago. The routing through Fort Wayne this afternoon threw me a minor curve, as the train came off the former NKP at East Wayne Yard and took the former Wabash west to the interlocking at Mike in downtown Fort Wayne, where it then gained access to the CF&E's former Pennsy. From there, the westbound utilized the connection at CP Sand to regain former NKP trackage from the ex Pennsy. The first shot shows NS #217 using the high-speed connection at NE interlocking, while the second shot shows the intermodal back on NKP rails further west at Dunfee, Indiana. It goes without saying that the locomotive is desperately in need of a solid scrubbing.
