Eastern Railroad Discussion > Good News for Coal- And now for something... completely differentDate: 06/30/22 20:00 Good News for Coal- And now for something... completely different Author: Mgoldman Coal mines, anyway....A company aims to power the world for
millions of years by digging the deepest holes everhttps://interestingengineering.com/company-power-world-dig-deepest-holes "The brain behind the concept is a research engineer in MIT's Plasma Science and Fusion Center, Paul Woskov. The engineer has spent the last 14 years developing a method that may bring an abandoned coal power plant back online, entirely carbon-free, within a decade. And his method, which is being commercialized by a company named Quaise Energy, could work on nearly every coal and gas power plant on our planet..." /Mitch Date: 06/30/22 20:05 Re: Good News for Coal- And now for something... completely diffe Author: pdt Hope springs eternal. I hope it works better than cold fusion.

Particulates {soot}? It doesn’t use coal in anyway. Just drilling (using a laser) a hole deep enough to boil water and generate steam. Coal is only mentioned for the use of abandoned coal plants. Don’t know too many power plants just sitting around unused. Usually scrapped quickly after shut down. Novel idea. Date: 07/01/22 06:18 Re: Good News for Coal- And now for something... completely diffe Author: Lackawanna484 Geothermal heating is used in Iceland. Helps to have volcanoes around.
