Bridge outage yesterday on the NS Lehigh Line?
Author: dschlegel

I meant to post this question yesterday but got busy.

While listening to the Harrisburg East feed I heard the dispatcher tell an MOW crew at Womelsdorf they couldn’t have track time because 20K was coming and had to get across the Lehigh Line before a bridge outage.

Last night the Reading Line was almost dead quiet except for Allentown trains, and today trains have been running like street cars.

Does anyone know where the bridge outage was and what the work was?

Thanks!
Dan

To illustrate Dan's point, here is what I thought was 23Z heading west through the Valley Road grade crossing in Hillsborough, NJ this morning. Normally the only westbound train seen at this time of the morning would be 21M. That second unit was KCS 4862.

21M got around 23Z and 23M at Bethlehem. Prior to that
25Z and 211 went west

They have been working on the bridge over South Branch of the Raritan River in Annandale NJ the last few weeks. Don’t know for sure if that’s the bridge in question though.

The South Branch of the Raritan River does not go through Annandale. It does go through Lansdown which is also in Clinton Township as is Annandale

Well if we are going to be persnickety about it, it’s actually Hamden. But figured Annandale was closest recognizable name. Geez

NS has dropped new ties and ballast along the single track Lehigh Line from PHillipsburg, NJ eastward. Don't know how far the project extdends but when it starts ther are sure to be delays.
