Eastern Railroad Discussion > Where to go in Harrisburg, PADate: 07/30/22 17:41 Where to go in Harrisburg, PA Author: jcreed111 Greetings! Where is the best place to see lots of train traffic in Harrisburg? I can't go on the weekend, so the Harris Tower is out - no legal parking during the week. Also can't walk too far...
Thanks for any recommendations! There you’ll find a wide pull-off/parking area used by many railfans in the Harrisburg area. Simply cross the Susquehanna River on 81 and take route 11/15 north (railroad west). The pull off is located about seven or so miles north after exiting 81 and between 11/15 and the tracks. There’s also a Sheetz located 1/4 mile away with bathrooms and made-to-order food.

You get the traffic soming up from Hagerstown that goes East as well. Again, good parking and amenities close by.
