Eastern Railroad Discussion > Can CP run past the collapse threatened building in Albany?Date: 07/31/22 18:25 Can CP run past the collapse threatened building in Albany? Author: march_hare Lots of attention being paid to the former Central Warehouse building in Albany NY, which has been deemed a threat to collapse onto the former NYC passenger main through town. Amtrak service north and west of Albany is in a state of confusion to say the least.
But the CP mainline from Albany north to Saratoga and Montreal passes right next to this building on the west side (closer than the passenger main, really). I haven't heard diddle about traffic on this route. Where is CP/CSX interchange traffic going now? Date: 08/01/22 06:34 Re: Can CP run past the collapse threatened building in Albany? Author: CP8888 Capital District busses run along the south side of the building closer than Amtrak.

Busses don't cause the vibration that running a train does. Also, one side of the building might be more or less stable than another. We don't know enough details to fully understand the situation. |
