Q regarding CSX Rail Service Issue Status report
Author: JPB

Q: why does CSX omit dwell time measurements for its large classification yards at Cincinnati, OH, Avon, IN, Selkirk, NY and Waycross, GA as well as its other large carload handling yards? And some of the yards for which it reports are not very major, eg, Syracuse and Buffalo.

Here's the link to the CSX service issues status spreadsheet of 8/3/22 as posted at the STB web site: https://dcms-external.s3.amazonaws.com/DCMS_External_PROD/1659551840096/305097%20-%20Spreadsheet.xlsx

CSX, like all the other Class I railroads, still file the regular weekly service metric reports with the STB here: https://www.stb.gov/reports-data/rail-service-data/#railroads-tab-content-1-4
These reports include the top ten terminals by volume.

The additional reporting that was required due to the service problems includes smaller terminals, such as Buffalo and Syracuse, as you note.

You're welcome. Wouldn't it be nice if all this info was in one place, instead of two reports?

CSX will happily omit or lie about dwell times that are too embarrasing to report.
