19G with a DODX caboose and LORAM on the Reading Line
Author: dschlegel

I got lucky over lunch today and caught the 19G with a great consist as well as a caboose, and then the rail grinder just a few minutes later.

First video is 19G at Lyons, PA, the second is the LORAM grinding at Kohler Road in Bowers, PA.

Enjoy!

Great videos Dan.  I think I saw a couple R&N boxcars in the first video.  As for the Loram, don't think I've ever seen it "at speed".  Was your dad with you trackside with the tri-pod?

There were a few RBMN cars on 19G.

That was definitely the first time I’ve seen the grinder working that fast!

The guy with the tripod is not my dad. I forget his name but he only recently got into being a railfan and can be see all along the Reading Line.

Glad you enjoyed the videos!!

Cool videos, would've been cooler with the NS Freight having someone in the caboose!

Loram Rail Grinder was not grinding as we lift our grinding stones through a rail crossing.  The crossing will be ground later by one of our switch & crossing grinders.

Thanks for that information! It was grinding prior to the crossing, you can see the fringing assemblies being lifted as the equipment nears the crossing, and drop back down after the crossing.

I suppose the caboose was just deadheading as nothing that required DOD watch was on the train?
