Eastern Railroad Discussion > Lots of yellow on the former Southern

Finally home from my McDonough, Georgia teaching gig. On my off time down there I (of course) went out in search of local rail activity. A favorite location was Jenkinsburg, Ga, the location of a long passing siding on this former Southern Railway Atlanta to Macon main. Union Pacific power was fairly common with several trains a day having UP leaders.

UP 7260 is in the hole for a southbound at Jenkinsburg. The conductor waves to his fellow co workers.
UP 5193, again in the siding, is framed by some fall colors.
UP 3026, NS 1215, and 6212 (green wave Eco unit from Macon) have stopped on the main at Jenkinsburg to rectify a problem.

Great series!  #2 is especially nice!!

I vote for 1 and two as my favorites. I would have really been confused as to whose railroad I was on if I didn't know the territory. Second knee replaced four weeks ago today. I have both brand new for next year, so I'll be in touch about letting you bother me at some point. Happy Thanksgiving!

A curvy line. Even the Royal Palm and Ponce de Leon in their heyday were allotted 130 minutes for Atlanta-Macon, a distance of 88 miles between the passenger stations. The Central of Georgia ran 5 minutes faster, although their route was 15 miles longer.

Great group of photos.  The UP colors look good with the fall foliage.

Bill, I also had both knees replaced. Over a year for the right and this December will be one year for the left.  All is well I am much better off.
