Red dirt railroading (CaterParrott)
Author: EL833

Had a free Saturday morning one of the recent weeks I was in Georgia, so despite the overcast day I ventured down to the CaterParrott Railnet Thomaston Division and followed job 7 from Barnesville to Thomaston. The SW1500/GP40 combo was neat. First photo at Barnesville, Georgia then south of town a bit. Third photo is passing "The Rock" station sign- and yes, that's the name of the town.

A final look at the Thomaston move as they returned lite power north of Thomaston. I had a better day weather wise a week later and managed to see a CPR set of three GP40s at Shady Dale, Georgia.

At the end of the sub there were a lot of PRLX units stored awaiting rebuild including some former KCS and NS units.Thomaston, Ga

Nice series. I bet Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) would like photo #3.

Excellent series.  I love seeing these shortlines get photogrpahed in operation like this.  Especially small ones in the south that are left.
