A few for November 22nd in Lake Erie Land
Author: train1275

Tuesday November 22, 2022

On this day in 1963 (59 years ago) JFK was assassinated in Dallas, TX. Somehow that seems like a demarcation of eras in time, somehow the culture and fabric of our society changed. I was very young, but have vivid memories of that day and the following weekend. I also remember the "feel" of the time before and what has come afterwards.

1. Yesterday the "Frontenac" departed our waters and headed east at sunset towards Fairport, OH making for a nice sight.

2. Today, down at the busy docks this morning for a catch of 16G with NS 4267 and BNSF 6920, and a little rippled reflection in the Vermilion River.

3. In the consist was this RBMN 7567 hopper.

4. Also more tractors, this time Case and New Holland.

5. After lunch an mty coal train comes east heading back to Shire Oaks, PA after dumping coal at Sandusky for Great Lakes freighters. Power is NS 1099 and 4072.

6. NS coal car with Thoroughbred logo.

7. NS black coal hopper.

8. An old Conrail coal hopper.

9. Intermodal 28M roars through with NS 3604 leading NS 4211. Dodging the shadows today !

10. Then we see the 28V come into town with NS 4365 and 8019. Five hours trackside today and I never caught a westbound. They only ran when I took a break.

11. The 28V  is followed by 268, a very short intermodal with NS 4573 and 4258.

12. How short was the 268 ?   Well see for yourselves ........

That's it for today. Sunny & 40 degrees (f) with lots of shadows to contend with and a breeze that, when it hit you, the chill went right through.
