NS 67E Question
Author: dschlegel

In listening to the NS Harrisburg East scanner feed over the past several months I often hear 67E turning its power at the Dunkle/Leisey/Tulp wye in the Reading, PA area.

I’m curious to know why it is such a common occurrence (several times per week).

Thanks!
Dan

If the train has NS BNSF power going east, it comes back west with the empties and the BNSF power leading
up to Reading. The power must get spun to get the NS cab signal leader back on the lead for west of Harrisburg

They sometimes run up to Reading with the NS unit long hood forward.  In fact, there have been a few times when they have run long hood forward to and through Harrisburg.

Thanks Sam, this makes sense when combined with Tom’s note above that BNSF power is often in the consist.

Dan
