FEC evening northbound in Ft. Lauderdale tonight…
Author: PasadenaSub

A few minutes after detraining a northbound Brightline from Miami this evening, my wife and I headed for the Riverwalk downtown (to get to our AirBnB accommodations while here).  I noticed that the drawbridge over the New River was down with signboard for boats displaying 'Bridge down for one train'.  Knowing that both Brightlines for the hour had just gone through, I figured it was a FEC freight.  Sure enough, a northbound intermodal showed up quickly.  Since FEC runs on a pretty tight schedule, I'm guessing it can be easily identified.  Time was 7:39pm.

Here's a video of the entire train crossing the New River.

When I go boating on the New River I always plan my departure and return times around the Brightline train schedule so I don't stuck too long on either side of the lift bridge.

Of course my plans don't always work out when FEC throws a freight in the mix.
