A boy with his train
Author: srman

Recently I found this bench with a boy and his train while visiting the Bremen Georgia area. Now I just needed a train passing behind. Finally a light power move G87 passes behind.

I saw this image yesterday and immediately thought: "IOTD"! But I didn't want to put a jinx on it by predicting an IOTD outcome for today. None-the-less, I am very pleased to start the day with my usual cuppa joe, and this exemplary image to enjoy all day long! I give it an A+ in all categories, especially composition. Well done, sir... :^)

Excellent.  This is in a park or greenspace of some kind? Name?
It's a notebook item for future travels.
thank you.

Alway curious and seeking a geographical perspective, I went looking for the "Boy on Bench" in Bremen, GA,.which is 50 miles west of Atlanta  I found him in Depot Park "watching all the trains go by."  The east-west line is the former Southern, now Norfolk Southern to and from Atlanta and the lesser-used north-south line is the former Central of Georgia, also now NS.  The light engine movement is on the north-south line.  The Walgreen's in the background helped with the location and perspective.

According to a web site for Depot Parlk, more than 40 trains a day pass by and a scanner tells of the movements.

Love that picture, so many things to like about it.  And that statue of the little boy would have been me, for sure!  Congrats on the IOTD.

cinder: very good illustrated post.  Busy rails there.

I realized, looking at the original photo, a search for walgreen's in Bremen would have gotten me within 400 feet of the statue. 😉

Outstanding photo. 40 trains a day seems very optimistic to me though.
