Virginia Radio Frequencies
Author: zchcsse

Hello all,

I am looking for some help on some radio frequencies in Virginia for an upcoming railfan trip.

CSX through Ashland/Doswell RF&P Sub.   I see a handful of listings online, and am not sure which is best.

CSX through Williamsburg, VA  (don't know which Sub this is).

I would also appreciate confirmation on these radio freqs I found online for places I will be...

Buckingham Branch RR in Doswell and Charlottesville:  CH 023  160.455

NS
Altavista Dist.  CH 061  161.025

Blue Ridge Dist.  CH 061  161.025

NS Christianburg Dist.  CH 072  161.190

NS Pocahontas Dist.  CH 036   160.650

NS Roanoke Dist.    CH 022   160.440

NS Roanoke Terminal   CH 076   161.250

NS Washington Dist.   CH 056  160.950

NS Whitethorne Dist.  CH 072  161.190

NS Winston-Salem Dist.  CH 022  160.440

Thank you for any help!
-Tom

That is the Peninsula Subdivision.

All of the below frequencies are correct.  The NS Washington District channel you mentioned is the road channel.  There is also a Channel 2 that is sometimes used AAR 009 160.2450 for extended conversations.

I'll add some others that might be useful too.

NS Danville District (Former Southern, Tye River, VA to Lexington, NC)
Road - AAR 053 160.9050
Channel 2 - AAR 027 160.5150

NS Bluefield Yard
AAR 076 161.2500

NS Clinch Valley District (Bluefield, WV to Norton, VA)
AAR 092 161.4900

Buckingham Branch also uses channel 040 for switching, and their channels are used wherever they run except when occupying CSX or NS mainlines.
