Eastern Railroad Discussion > A Few From Lake Erie LandDate: 06/06/23 15:34 A Few From Lake Erie Land Author: train1275 Tuesday June 6, 2023
Vermilion, OH 79th Anniversary of D-Day I haven't been out doing much the last few days. Here are a few from yesterday and today. 1. A H-U-G-E 11Q comes through on the Chicago Line Track #2 yesterday, June 5th with NS 4064, 9709 and mid DPU NS 4052. He will hit the connector ahead and make the left turn for Bellevue down the NKP side. 2. The mid-train DPU, NS 4052 against a neat old Norfolk & Western hopper. 3. Then the L13 comes west with two SD60E's, NS 6996 and 6912. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/06/23 15:35 by train1275. Date: 06/06/23 15:44 Re: A Few From Lake Erie Land Author: train1275 4. The L13 west passes the 1879 built Lake Shore & Michigan Southern depot.
June 6, 2023 - Smoke in my eyes from the Canadian wild fires out west. 5. This afternoon at "GC" west of Vermilion on the NKP side the 315 comes west from Conneaut heading home to Bellevue. He got stuck there waiting for one of the Q's to come east and hit the connector for the Chicago Line. Power is NS 8079 on the head end and NS 4313 bringing up the markers on the rear. 6. The DPU trails west in the hazy smokey air. Date: 06/07/23 07:36 Re: A Few From Lake Erie Land Author: Gonut1 I was just outside and here in SE Pennsylvania the air is pink haze from the forest fires in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. The region is experiencing a severely dry spring. Last evening we had a very brief thundershower that will make the dry cruncy August-like grass happy but not much else.
Thanks for going out and posting what you have seen. Gonut Date: 06/08/23 18:39 Re: A Few From Lake Erie Land Author: MacBeau Interesting views, and even a few flowers it looks like in that last shot. Question, does the NS have trouble keeping those long manifests together?
