10/22/24 16:22 75 ☀️ degrees at CN MP 202 Charlotte as CN 8829 and BCOL 4642 power Train L 543 over the ChS junction switch and past the old GTW depot. L 543 is a LANSING to BATTLE CREEK week day turn. Crew goes on duty around 15:00 at Snow Yard in LANSING. Train picks up JAIL shortline cars there then heads a couple miles west to pick up loaded autoracks from GM's Delta Assembly ar Corey Yard before heading to Battle Creek. In a few hours it will bring cars from BATTLE CREEK
for LANSING. Power usually in the same for several days until rotation. Today a very unusual lash up with CN 8829 LHF nose to nose with BCOL 4642. 😜 THE ODD COUPLE!!! 😜 BCOL 4642 not equipped with PTC so cannot lead. With no way to turn 8892 in Lansing they move west nose to nose. Full 2:00 video:

Interesting and from a rarely posted area. I was in Battle Creek once in 1984. Conrail and I guess Grand Trunk had just consolidated rails through the city and built a road bridge over what was a former traffic mess! I recall a really nice GT train station. While there we did make the drive into town to see the giant Tony the Tiger in front of Kellogg's.
The purpose of the trip was to run an SCCA PRO Rally but our car ingested sand that caused the cam drive belt to jump and practically melted the turbo, end of that story. But it was the Mother of Invention to prevent a future failure. Such is racing.
