Eastern Railroad Discussion > Signal Sunday - still there in MansfieldDate: 11/17/24 06:44 Signal Sunday - still there in Mansfield Author: gcm 11/2/24
Posted this earlier on the western board but moved it where it should be. I had not been there in a while but whenever I pass through Mansfield,Oh I check to see if the ex-PRR signal bridges are still there - and they are. Looking west on the former very busy PRR New York-Chicago main. NS has made a couple changes. Just past the second bridge the double track main goes to a single one to Crestline. Behind me I'm not sure how far the double track remains but it is a single track into Orrville and Alliance. Also a couple position light signal poles are in town. As usual I can't catch a train here. To the right of the signal bridges not much remains from the once extensive Westinghouse plant. Wayne line at mile post 126.5 between Orrville and Wooster, Ohio began last week.

Date: 11/18/24 17:50 Re: Signal Sunday - still there in Mansfield Author: orhs4ever Couldn't find the article discussing traffic on the Ft. Wayne line (written in the fall of 2023).
If I remember correctly, train symbols were "170", "171" and "578"...an eastbound coal manifest. In addition, a local works the Orrville area on an almost daily basis. RJ Corman services Wooster, Ohio via the Ft. Wayne line. Obviously, this may have changed. The Ft. Wayne line is very well maintained. Posted from Android Edited 1 time(s). The coal trains have been routed via Bellevue as of late. Occasional grain train to and from Mansfield (often a 40N/41N).
