Maiden Voyage of CSX latest Heritage Unit: the Pan Am Clipper
Author: JPB

On its first trip out of the Waycross paint booth, CSXT Pan Am Heritage unit #1981 serves as DPU on Waycross to Selkirk symbol M410-22 - seen here passing the Ashland VA static live cams at 0849 Sunday 11/24/24. And a Pan Am box car was thrown in as a bonus!

The question New England railfans have is will 1981 be assigned to a Selkirk to Portland ME manifest M426 so shutters can click from Massachusetts to Maine? I'm guessing 1981 doesn't feature ACSES PTC to go along with its I-ETMS so, if true, it will have to trail the usual dual PTC mode 4xx CW44AC that leads M426/M427 through the MBTA commuter zone around Boston.

It's still my opinion (and that of many others) and as a stock holder, that CSX should have painted the entire unit as "Heritage" and still put the CSX initials and engine number under the window.  At least with this paint, the two blues don't clash like some of the other paint jobs with some colors.

Nice to see CSX's newest acquisition recognized, although as a fan I would have preferred memorializing the B&M and Maine Central.  They could have used the old maroon and yellow pinstripe scheme with each road's name on one side.

Yes, since you feel the need to say this after everyone of the engines has been released, we know

My opinion, also as a stock holder (not sure what that matters) is that I like them.  Also as a current employee, I enjoy seeing my employer on the front of the engine, not some has been company.   Many others agree.

I like the idea of a B&M / MEC combo twofer.

Looking from the nose, if you were not familiar with the HU loco numbers, you wouldn't know what it is.

Overall, I like them. Of the ones I've seen so far, my favorite is the WM.....

My Dad read that this the last CSX heritage unit to be painted. This is #21 and I heard there were 26 planned. Told my Dad I would find out. Any comments.
