Amtrak's "Floridian" Train 40, the Miami, FL to Chicago, IL train that has replaced the Capitol Limited was 5 hours and 13 minutes late through North Central Ohio this morning. That meant daylight and a photo op. Ok, I'll use the term daylight rather liberally this morning. It was "like daylight".  I have no idea why the train was late.

1. - 3. I decided to catch it at Main Street crossing, not having much incentive to get creative or fancy due to the low gloomy light. That meant bumping up the ISO to 800 and dropping the shuter as low as possible without risking a 79 mph blur while widening the aperature to soak in as much of that lackluster light as possible. After he left Elyria he really poured on the coals. Soon the horn blew for Vermilion Road and around the curve he came charging past at what looked to be full track speed heading for the next stop at Sandusky about 20 miles west. No Chargers today, just the old P-42's; Amtrak 159 and 72. Trains have not stopped here at the old LS&MS depot for many years. Some folks claim the building on the left was the original Cleveland & Toledo depot from the 1850's, relocated from across the tracks, originally west of the crossing. I can't confirm or deny that.

7 - 8. And away they go, markers disappearing around the bend, 221 miles west of Buffalo with 301 miles left to go to Chicago.

It was late yesterday coming in Cary, NC yesterday morning and got to chase down NS E50 from Cary and get ahead of them in Raleigh.
