Amtrak Floridian at 2 below - Lake Erie Land
Author: train1275

Wednesday January 22, 2025
Vermilion, OH
2 below zero (f)

The westbound Floridian was 6 hours and 29 minutes late today. Normally it sails over the Vermilion River at about 4:30 am, otherwise known as O-dark-30. It's still 300 miles to Chicago and a far bit colder here than when this train left Miami Florida.

Power was Charger 336 and P42 #82.
The diner was Viewliner II "Springfield" 68023. Hopefully breakfast is being served.

The light was really nice here until just before the train arrived, take what you can get.

Consist is:
Locomotives
336, 82
Coaches
25053
25111
25041
25055

28016
Diner

It looks like you could take a hike on the Vermilion River! I saw -5 here at 2AM this morning. Yup it is cold.
I went out long enough after sunrise to put my American Flag in the holder for the day. Refreshing to say the least!
Thanks for the post.
