Hagerstown MD 1978
Author: Pete4501

I spent a very cold, wintery day poking around Hagerstown sometime around 1980 and found a few things of intertest.  In this set ,at the old WM roundhouse, is a photo of the former PRR sleepers prior to entering service for MARC, which were mentioned in a previous post; an 0-6-0 switcher (anyone know its history?); and the Reading T-1 2101 that was damaged in a fire in KY in 1979.

Those are great photos that I do not believe anyone else has shown them on here.  Yes, the former Reading 2101 was towed up to Hagerstown, Maryland where basically the roundhouse property was no longer being used by the Chessie System as the Western Maryland had been merged into Chessie.  The 2101 was cosmetically restored at that roundhouse and then towed back down to Baltimore to the B&O R.R. Museum and put on display as American Freedom Train #1 in 1979.

The 0-6-0 should be ex-NYC, see https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?10,1875143

Some of those coaches were former N&W 10/6 sleepers, though most were former PRR 21 roomette sleepers.
