L&N into Indiana
Author: srman

For the past several weeks CSX's L&N nose painted GP38-2 has been on some of the locals in the Louisville Ky. area, I had seen it however it was either trailing or the wrong time of day for a good photograph. Now unlike CSX's heritage units which are a side shot to highlight what you are shooting GP38-2 2625 is a nose shot. So this morning I jumped out of bed when I heard the Louisville & Indiana dispatcher give an EC1 to northbound CSX local Y129 with the 2625 heading to Indiana from Louisville. I race down to the Ohio River as he entered Indiana. First two images are as he crossed the river then as he headed up the Nabb branch (former B&O) to a small yard called Watson in Jeffersonville, Thanks for looking.

Nice shots - thank you. That is one very impressive bridge, and so neat to see it with that L&N nose coming across.

Great shot! Only thing that would have made it better would be an oscillating headlight above the cab where the patch is.
Spent a lot of time running these and hated to see theoscillating headlights be removed.

Speaking of Jeffersonville. Does CSX service a barge loading facility on the river?
Seen quite a few loaded potash trains profiled to Jeffersonville.

If you send one to the Cartersville paint crew they might install it for you... 😉

Potash trains are generally delivered to the loading facility in Jeffersonville by LIRC crews.

I was able to save an oscillating headlight from the scrap bin. Just need the rest of the locomotive! Even though the rules refered to them as an oscillating headlight, We just called thm Mars lights on my end of the L&N.

Very nice!

Cool to see what almost appears as a nostalgic train on CSX, with the smaller sized power, the L&N logo and the mixed freight - too bad about the graffiti. Love the composition and crops - impressive bridge(s)!

One heck of a bridge. Interesting to see the heritage nose concept.
Congrats on the IOTD. Always a nice way to start to the day.
